To breaking a summer slump...

It's been a short while friends and for my absence I am terribly sorry. July has been an interesting month for me, and by interesting I mostly mean challenging. I've felt recluse and uninspired, which has left my blogging well a little dry. I tend to let my emotions show, at least a little bit, so it's hard for me to put on a happy face around here and pretend that I'm the happiest little home-making blogger. That's not me...that's not real. There's been no significant trials or circumstances--maybe the heat has finally gotten to me and I'm just a little cranky--but regardless, it leaves me running for comforts and old favorites and not very much exciting news for you guys.

Maybe I need to bake myself one of these--an Unbirthday Cake by my new blogger friend Nico of Satin & Salt  who just needed to make a few wishes.

I've been reading this new release--but my Nook recently bit the dust, meaning I can only read my Nook books inside on my iPad while I'm back to paperbacks for direct sunlight.

I tried a "relaxing, DIY sugar scrub" via pintrest for an at home spa treatment. If nothing else, my legs have never been smoother...I'll make a separate post on this later because it DID work and it WAS easy and I am very happy I took that plunge into some DIYing from pintrest that took mere minutes to make (my kind of project).

I also found a tasty new salmon recipe that I'd love to share with you, too.

All is reasonably well and with any luck I'll be back in full force in the kitchen very soon. Some new kitchen gadgets can't hurt as motivation either.

plus, how bad can things be when there's a gazillion pictures of Ryan Lochte on pintrest?

How do you beat your slumps?

  1. Hey lady, first off let me say that I enjoy your posts very much and even if you aren't the happiest camper 100 percent of the time I'd always love to hear from you! Also, thanks so much for featuring my unbirthday cake! I honestly Just had some cake mix around (along with bits and pieces from other cake projects) and just kind of decided to go for it because I wanted a wish on the spot. Oh and yes... days are hard sometimes and blogging is difficult. I started my blog during a really bad slump. I was very depressed due to a variety of reason (mainly... needing 5 jaw surgeries over the last year or so). But I tried to use my blog as a way to take myself away from the everyday struggles and just try to focus on a blog that produces positive information and visuals. No matter what is going on during the day in my real life (like being bed ridden for weeks post jaw surgery unable to chew), I know that I always have my blog to comfort me and keep me productive and positive!

Looking forward to your next post!

  2. Miss Nico! Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement (this is one of the reasons I love the blogosphere so very much). 5 jaw surgeries? YIKES! Now THAT is something worth being cranky about :) An impromptu after work dinner with girlfriends and a double date planned for later in the week things are starting to feel a little bit better!

  3. Glad to hear that plans are looking up! Take pictures of the food where ever you end up eating! I planted 6 tomato plants this year, 4 red and 2 yellow. The red ones produced over 25 tomatoes on each plant and the two yellow plants produced 3... You win some, and other times you don't. What are you planting this winter? I'd love to know!
